For those who may not be familiar with it, Humane’s AI Pin can be described as a self-sufficient gadget capable of making phone calls and equipped with a projector that can display a smartphone-like interface on virtually any surface. Resembling one-half of a flip phone, the device can be securely attached to your clothing using magnets.
According to insights from Time Magazine, which had already included AI Pin in its “Best Inventions of 2023” list even before its official launch, the wearable is poised to harness a blend of exclusive software and OpenAI’s GPT technology. This blend will empower users to make calls, send texts, and pose intricate questions using their voice. However, it remains to be seen whether Humane will opt for GPT-3.5 or the newer GPT-4.

Additionally, the device will incorporate a built-in camera capable of identifying objects and providing estimated calorie information when scanning food items. If privacy is a concern, AI Pin will reportedly feature a ‘Trust Light’ that illuminates when the camera, microphone, or other sensors are actively in use.
Humane has been enticing consumers with teasers about AI Pin for several months. In April of this year, one of the company’s co-founders showcased some demonstrations of the upcoming device. Although Humane initially planned to disclose details about the machine on October 14, the announcement has since been postponed to November 9.
