Former MP Nilesh Rane reconsidered his political exit after discussions with Deputy CM Fadnavis, concerned about his treatment in BJP.
Just a day after saying he was quitting politics, former MP Nilesh Rane changed his mind when he met with Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in Mumbai. Earlier, BJP minister Ravindra Chavan talked to Nilesh Rane at his home for over two hours. Then, Chavan and Nilesh Rane went to Fadnavis’s house, Sagar.
Chavan told the media, “After talking with Fadnavis, Nilesh Rane decided not to leave politics.” Nilesh Rane, the eldest son of Union minister Narayan Rane, was unhappy because he felt the BJP was ignoring him. He believed that his supporters, even at the village council level, needed to get more attention.
Fadnavis advised Nilesh Rane to focus on party work rather than bringing his complaints to the public. He was told that the senior leadership of the BJP was aware of all the developments.
Nilesh Rane was also told not to make his grievances public. Instead, he should bring them to the party’s attention. With the 2024 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections coming up, any disputes within the party, at any level, are not good for the party.
Nilesh Rane first ran for the Lok Sabha as a Congress candidate in 2009 from Sindhudurg-Ratnagiri. He defeated former Union minister and Shiv Sena candidate Suresh Prabhu. However, he lost in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections to Shiv Sena’s Vinayak Raut.
His father, Narayan Rane, is a member of the Rajya Sabha and serves as Union minister for MSME. His younger brother, Nitesh Rane, is an MLA representing the Kankavli Assembly seat in Sindhudurg district.
