Comedian and actress Amy Schumer is pushing back against online trolls who made jokes about her face appearing “puffier than usual.” She disclosed that she battles with endometriosis but assured her followers that she is doing okay.
The 42-year-old star took to Instagram to address the remarks, expressing appreciation for the feedback while stressing that women should not feel compelled to justify their physical appearance.

Schumer shared in her post, “Thank you for everyone’s comments regarding my face. I’ve received feedback and discussions about my appearance, like all women do, for nearly 20 years, and you’re correct; it does look puffier than usual right now.
I have endometriosis, an autoimmune disease that every woman should educate themselves about. There are some medical and hormonal issues happening in my life right now, but I’m doing okay.”
She further advocated for self-love and embracing one’s appearance, underlining the importance of prioritizing her work over her looks. “Throughout history, women’s bodies have been significantly less studied medically compared to men. The book ‘all in her head’ does a great job of explaining this.

I also believe that a woman shouldn’t need any excuse for her physical appearance and owes no explanations. But I wanted to take the chance to promote self-love and acceptance of the skin you’re in,” Schumer stated.
In conclusion, she disclosed that she experiences varying levels of confidence like everyone else but feels proud of her project titled “Life and Beth” and hopes her fans will enjoy it, too.
“Like any other woman or person, some days I feel confident and amazing, and other days I want to hide. But I feel empowered, beautiful, and extremely proud of this television show I created. Wrote. Acted in and directed.
Perhaps we can focus on that for a moment. I had backup dancers on Fallon, but my face is the headline, hahaha. Anyway, I hope you enjoy ‘Life and Beth.’ Love and solidarity. Amy,” Schumer concluded.
What is Endometriosis?
Endometriosis is a medical situation where tissue similar to the lining inside the uterus, known as the endometrium, starts to develop outside the uterus. This can lead to pain, especially during menstruation, and sometimes can lead to fertility problems. The tissue can form on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, outer texture of the uterus, and other organs in the pelvic region.
Endometriosis impacts millions of women worldwide and can have an effective impact on quality of life. Treatment options include medication, surgery, and lifestyle changes.
Schumer has been open about her struggles with the condition, revealing in a previous Instagram video that she had her uterus and appendix removed due to endometriosis, which had caused significant health issues.
