WhatsApp is said to be developing a feature that displays a user’s status alongside their last seen in the chat window.
WhatsApp, Meta’s messaging platform with over 2 billion users worldwide, is testing a new feature that displays a contact’s profile information directly in the chat window. The latest WhatsApp beta for Android (v2.23.25.11) reveals the status and last seen (if enabled) beneath the contact’s name within the chat window.
This information, visible when the feature is enabled in privacy settings, offers a convenient way to check a user’s status without opening the profile information screen. The feature is expected to be available for all in a future Android version, though it remains to be seen if a similar functionality is in development for iOS devices.
In recent months, WhatsApp has been introducing various features, including a shortcut button for quick access to an AI-powered chatbot, new voice chats for group conversations, and email verification for both Android and iOS.
