He received emergency treatment at Conde S. Januario Hospital but was subsequently declared deceased.
A Japanese tourist tragically passed away after a 764-foot bungee jump from one of the world’s tallest platforms in China.
The 56-year-old lost consciousness and experienced shortness of breath, leading to his death a few hours later. The incident occurred at the Macau Tower in the Municipality of Macau on Sunday.
The tourist was swiftly taken to Conde S. Januario Hospital for emergency treatment but was declared dead. An investigation is currently in progress.
The bungee jump was operated by Skypark by AJ Hackett, and their website advises participants to communicate any medical concerns beforehand, including issues like heart conditions, hypertension, diabetes, or past surgeries.
The company, known for its bungee jumps worldwide, charges around ₹25,000 for one round.
Despite the incident, Skypark by AJ Hackett emphasizes its “perfect safety record,” with over four million jumps conducted in more than 30 years. The tallest bungee platform globally is the Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge Bungee in China, surpassing the Macau Tower’s height.
This unfortunate event is a reminder of the risks associated with extreme activities. In 2019, a man in Poland suffered spinal injuries when his bungee harness snapped during a 330-foot jump at a theme park in Gdynia.
