External Affairs Minister Jaishankar says that stopping visas for Canadians is not to get back at them but to keep Indian diplomats safe.
During a meeting where important people discuss things, India’s Foreign Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar, talked about the issue between India and Canada. He mentioned that stopping Canadians from getting visas to India is not a permanent decision. It’s more of a temporary measure to keep Indian diplomats safe. He said this during a meeting where they were discussing India’s role as the leader of a group of important countries called G20.

Some people in the meeting appreciated India’s role as the G20 leader, but they also had questions about stopping Canadians from getting visas. The minister explained that this was done to protect Indian diplomats in Canada, not to get back at Canada. The situation might improve and the visa suspension might be lifted when Indian diplomats in Canada are safer.
Jaishankar, the Indian minister, also said that they could allow visas again if Indian diplomats in Canada are given better security. India and Canada are having a disagreement because the Canadian Prime Minister said that Indian government agents might be linked to a person’s killing in Canada. India strongly denied this, and there’s no public evidence to support Canada’s claim.
