In the 2023 Rajasthan assembly election, Congress wanted people to vote for them because of the good social programs that Mr. Gehlot has started in the last five years.
Today, Ashok Gehlot, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, acknowledged that the Congress lost as the BJP gained the majority of seats. The Congress was counting on the people to support them due to the beneficial social welfare programs Gehlot had introduced in the past five years, as mentioned in the Congress manifesto.
“Our plans were excellent. We thought we would win based on our initiatives and promises,” Gehlot told reporters today.
Elections have wins and losses. Gehlot had hoped people would vote against the BJP, but he thinks they may have yet to understand the Congress message fully.
Gehlot noted that the BJP used aggressive language and talked about Hindu-Muslim issues during their campaign. He believes the defeat of the three states needs examination.
In Rajasthan, he acknowledged the issue of not introducing new faces, but he stated that this concern was absent in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
Gehlot emphasized that saying they would have won with new faces needs to be corrected. Despite the loss, he expressed his commitment to working for the public, even without an official position.
The BJP secured 115 seats in the 199-seat Rajasthan assembly.
